It isn't as sad as you think it is. Come on man, it's happened to all of us, when we just started to write. Most of us tend to write like the writer we idolise. I think, she's being honest when she says that. Let's give her a benefit of doubt.

Yup, not so sad. as today's events have shown, this issue have become bigger and she's apologised. yup. i think it's only fair to give her the benefit of doubt.
